Charles Wako

Charles Wako, born in Western Kenya in 1950, he figures among the leading Africans in the Airline industry. He is the Chairman of the East African Safari Air Express (SAX), a low-cost airline based in Nairobi, Kenya, that operates domestic and freight services and claims to be Kenya’s premier safari and private charter airline.

He is currently Board Director of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Nairobi County (KNCCI), Manager of the Senate Office of Busia County, Deputy Director for the African Airlines Associations (AFRAA) from 1987 to 2003, Revenue service Manager for the International Air Transport Association (IATA) from 1999 to 2003, Chairman of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) from 2003 to 2012, President of the African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) from 2008 to 2010.

Mr. Wako is also a philanthropist and is the Board Director (Kenya Chapter) of Diomira Foundation, based in Rome and Nairobi.

Charles Wako is a holder of a BA in Business Administration from Anderson University Indiana, United State of America and a Master Degree in Marketing from Ball State University in Muncie Indiana, United State of America. He lives in Nairobi with his wife, Alice, and four children.
